But I do remember intending to run a few errands with the girls in the afternoon, skipping Madison's nap, and running out the door with Madison in dress-up (BECAUSE we skipped nap- and I wasn't in the mood to deal with a screaming tired child- tired was bad enough).
We ended up not having time to go everywhere we wanted to go because we were on a bit of a schedule.
Gramm was meeting up with her usual Thursday night girls for dinner on Wednesday night because it was her friend, Betty's birthday.
We planned to meet them at Betty's house before they left for Cheesecake factory for a short visit.
Aunt Nancy (Ridenour), Aunt Betty (Fenner), and Grandma Quessie (Lillian Foster) were all there.
The girls were showered with belated birthday presents-stuffed animals and books, lots of hugs, and everyone was off.
Since we were just a few houses down from another good friend, Mommy and the girls drove down for a visit as Gramm and the big girls headed off to dinner.
Chris Wuennenberg has been a friend of Gramm's (and Mommy's) for many years. She used to be the Family and Consumer Science teacher at Osceola High School.
Chris recently lost her only son to the horrible monorail accident at Walt Disney World in the early hours of July 5th.
This was the first opportunity Mommy had to visit with Chris since the accident- and the first time Chris met Miss Kennedy.
When we arrived at her house, she was not home from teaching quite yet.
So the girls enjoyed playing in her front yard while we waited.
Kennedy - always the accessory girl.
Madison pausing for a cheesy smile-enjoying Curious George
Always the princess- Snow White.
While Madison played with her animals and books, Kennedy stumbled around the roots of the big old oak tree in the front yard.
She loved the cool grass, too.
Madison read the monkey book to George.
When Chris arrived, we went inside to visit.
The girls found plenty of cat toys to keep them busy while Mommy and Chris caught up.
Some days are better than others for her.
Be sure to say a special prayer for Miss Chris tonight.
She is a strong woman, but needs support as she continues to settle into her new reality without her only son.
A jarring reminder that God's plan is not always what we expect.
All the more reason to take every moment to hug, kiss, and love on these little blessings...
