Disney with Aunt Kristi

Saturday morning, April 25th Gramm, Aunt Kristi, Mommy, and the girls loaded up in the car and drove to Disney to meet Aunt Darlene to sign us into Magic Kingdom.
For those of you reading this on the west coast- it is Magic Kingdom- not Disney.
In Florida there are 4 theme parks, which as a whole are Disney World.
Now that I live in California, I realize how confusing this is since both the original park and the entire complex in California are called Disneyland.
Back to the subject.
We got some pretty classic photos on this trip.
Aunt Dar walked down main street with us

(which of course we failed to photograph- but here is a really cool one of Madison and Gramm- you can see Madison's name on the back of her ears if you click on the picture to make it bigger)
then we stopped to watch the morning show at the castle.

Now I'm a little partial, as is Aunt Kristi, but we think this is a pretty cool picture. Three generations of girls watching the castle- the girls with their special pink Mickey ears.

Kennedy and her funny faces as usual. Notice we had to loop the elastic on her ears to keep them from pulling off so easily.
After the show we were off to Mickey's Toon Town to see the Princesses before the lines were insane.

We made a quick stop at Minnie's house so Madison could help Minnie with her quilting project.
Then it was off to the Princesses.
It's actually pretty efficient and super cool the way they do character greeting now.
Most of the characters have special spots in the different theme parks where they 'live'. Instead of catching them sporadically throughout the park (which you can still do on Main Street certain times of the day) most of them have shaded or air conditioned locations where you wait in line and watch tv screens or some other entertainment before getting a private meeting with your character. Even though you know there is a HUGE line of people waiting just like you did (for several hours in some cases) when you are in the room with the other 5 or so families getting your turn to see the characters you really feel like you are special. The cast members don't rush you through. You can take your time, talk to the characters, take pictures, tell stories. It's great!
There are three Princesses available in each Princess room.
We saw Aurora aka Sleeping Beauty

Kennedy was enamoured with her, and even got a kiss on her cheek from Aurora.
Cinderella, who talked to Madison about her 'glass slippers'.

and gave Madison a big kiss.

Then Belle, who told Madison the reason the Beast was not available (of course she asked where he was) was because he had important business back at the castle.

Conveniently, the exit for the Princesses dumped us out in a HUGE gift shop.
They even had a build your own Potato Head area.
You can take home as many accessories as you can fit in their special boxes.

After playing with the Potato Heads with Aunt Kristi, Gramm decided the girls needed some Disney accessories to take home for their collection.
When we found out we didn't have to get a 'potato', we filled the box to the brim with Mickey ear ice cream, princess hats, Mickey and Minnie ears, feet- even a light saber.
(we saw this battle someone else left when we were picking out our accessories. the storm trooper face wasn't going to fit with all our 'girlie' accessories)

Kennedy wasn't interested in Potato Head, so she found another toy to play with.
Madison loved the Mickey ear ice cream bar so much, she carried it around in her hand all day long! We thought for sure she would lose it, but she managed to keep it all the way home.
After our fun purchase, we toured Mickey's house, where Madison saw some interesting veggies

and found some pumpkins she wants Daddy to grow in the garden this year.

At the end of our tour we saw the famous couple themselves.

We made our way over to Fantasyland where we rode the Carousel.

Everyone picked a horse.

Even Kennedy got to ride

in the sling, of course.

Madison loved it!

Then Gramm went in search of Mickey Ears for Kennedy's baby doll while the girls waited in line for Dumbo.

After the ride we posed in an elephant they had in front of the ride.
Kennedy was less than thrilled.

Her faces crack me up.

We made our way back to Main Street to see a parade and wish Gramm off.
She wanted to be with the girls when they saw the Princesses for the first time, but had plans with Pop for the afternoon.
She snuck away while Mommy and Madison stood in front of the castle to watch part of the stage show again.
Aunt Kristi was hanging out with Kennedy.
Gramm was so sneaky, she got Madison her very first Mickey Ear Ice Cream bar and special delivered it to Aunt Kristi while we were watching the show.
She didn't get to be there to see Madison eat it, so we captured it on film for her.
First bite:

(note the Mr Potato Head accessory in her right hand-and her over tired sister behind her)
Then she offered a bite to Aunt Kristi

which she thought was hilarious

Man was it good ice cream

want some more Aunt Kristi?

more giggles at the sharing process.

You want a bite, Mommy?

The ice cream really tuckered her out.
While we were waiting for the parade she fell asleep in Aunt Kristi's lap- mid sip on her 'tuppie'.

Two high school marching bands with loud drums walked right past her and she didn't flinch!

Kennedy took a little nap, too in the back of the stroller.

The girls missed the beginning of the parade and a gorgeous view of the castle.

Mommy knew Madison would flip out if she missed all her favorite Princesses and other characters.

so we woke her up mid parade. Usually waking this sleeping child is a death sentence, but today was different. She was mesmerised. The face says it all.

This is one of my faves of the day. Madison's not making the greatest face, but who doesn't love seeing their babies with Walt, Mickey, and Cinderella's Castle?

Kennedy looks like such a big girl!
Next we were off to Pooh's watering hole.
Kennedy was asleep in the stroller, so Madison took the time to cool off.

In case you can't tell...she LOVED it.

She was drenched from head to toe and happy as can be.

We dried off, and headed to Frontierland, where we met up with Mickey.

The over to Adventureland, where we ran into Mr Smee
Madison wanted to tickle his belly

then give him a big hug.
We even ran into Peter Pan and Wendy!
After visiting with the characters, we made our way back over to the castle for the afternoon block party parade. They stop in the circle in front of the castle and let the kids go dance and play with all the characters.
While we were waiting, Madison ran around

trying to get Aunt Kristi (she's behind the camera)
Kennedy got some snuggle time in

before her big sister distracted her.

When the parade settled in the loop and stopped, Jessie from Toy Story 2 was first on Madison's radar

neither one of them wanted to let go of the big hug!

Next she spotted Woody

It was all hugs for all the characters.
Madison was in heaven!
When the parade was over we made our way back down Main Street and out of the park.
We boarded the monorail which took us back to our car and gave us two sleeping little girls for the ride home.
What a great day!
