Halloween

Our neighborhood is not great for trick-or-treating.
The few people who have kids go to other friends' subdivisions.
This year the girls are big enough to really understand what trick-or-treating is all about so we made plans with the Steads.
We arrived to their house just before dinner time.
Kennedy was still in her Georgia dress and Mommy forgot to pack her cute red patent leather shoes.
We unloaded the car, dropped off Daddy and the girls and Mommy drove the 25 minutes round trip to get Kennedy's special shoes.
Angie, Chris, and Daddy all thought Mommy was crazy for going back to get the shoes. Hey, Kennedy's orange crocs are cute, but not with her Ladybug Girl costume.
When Mommy returned we hurried to get all the parts of the girls' costumes on and get out the door to start our little photo shoot.

Noah looked so cute as a little fire fighter.
Boy costumes are so much easier.

The kids explored Noah's spidery decorations while we waited for the Daddys to make their special 'big boy' drinks for our walk around the neighborhood.

Their faces say it all

They were more than a little amp'd to head out

Here is a good shot of the back of Kennedy's costume- wings and all

We managed to sit the kids down by the Jack-O-Lanterns at the front door

they were easily distracted

such sweet hugs

sweet smiles

sweet friends

Next stop- front yard

One step closer to trick or treating-the smiles get bigger

and off they go

Noah and Madison ran from house to house with Daddy and Chris while Mommy

and Angie stayed behind with Kennedy

Every time Kennedy caught up, the big kids were off again

they got really good at knocking

saying TRICK-OR-TREAT, then saying thank you to each friendly neighbor

"Look, Candy!"

After winding up and down several streets, all the buckets were full and it was time to make our way back to the Stead's house.
Kennedy wanted to walk the whole way home, but was a little slower than Madison and Noah.

Daddy was happy to stay behind and walk his little girl back to the house

Check out our cool polka-dot jack-o-lantern and the Steads cool carvings

When we finally got everyone inside and settled, each of the kids got to eat one piece of candy

candy corn was the popular choice

Before long it was time to jump in the tub, brush teeth, don the pjs and settle in to bed.
Angie read a Halloween book to the big kids while Mommy finished putting Kennedy down in Noah's old crib.

We ended up setting up a pallet on the floor for Madison.
She was entirely too wiggly for her great sleeping friend.
The next morning we woke up and got dressed for breakfast.
Since we didn't plan on spending the night, we didn't have new clean clothes to wear.
Luckily none of our trick or treating clothes were very dirty and both big kids were excited about wearing their costumes to breakfast.
Noah even helped "princess" Fancy Nancy put her sparkly slippers back on.

It was the perfect way to spend Halloween.
We'll see if we make it a tradition.
